Michelle Obama took her daughters to a Miley Cyrus concert at the Verizon Center last night, putting both election results and weekday bedtimes second to Sasha and Malias desire to Party in the U.S.A. with their peers.

While Miley Cyrus has been voted worst celebrity influence (and her little sister is well on her way to following in her footsteps, if her Halloween costume is any indication), she is, after all, adored by tweens everywhere, and Sasha and Malia are at the perfect age to be wooed by her act.

Besides, the only preteen girls who are in serious danger of emulating celebrities are those whose parents are not at the concert with them, and are not talking to them about the physical and emotional dangers of exploiting their sexuality.

I would have been up in arms had my mother refused to let me read Seventeen magazine (which I loved for one yearwhen I was nine) or play with my Barbies (which were always gifts from outside the family) or spend hours practicing putting on lipstick with my third-grade peers. But both of my parents always emulated appropriate behavior for me (which certainly cant be said for the Cyrus girls) and, most importantly, gained my trust so that I could speak openly with them and get their advice, through high school and beyond.

Although the Obama girls did get to meet the Jonas Brothers on Inauguration night, the First Lady has said that she wants to limit their close encounters with celebrities, to make their childhoods as normal as possible. Sadly, going to a Miley Cyrus concert as a preteen girl is about as normal as it gets these days.

The American boyband, Jonas Brothers, is not only making headlines because of their music and acting efforts. Recent controversies involving Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas have caused Disney to lose some money to cover up bad publicity swirling around. From the buzz-making Jonas Brothers shirtless pictures to controversial dating rumors left and right, the teen group act has been receiving a lot of jabs from the media, paparazzi and currently, some disappointed fans.

The rumors were said to have been caused by the brothers? various relationships with famous young stars in Hollywood. With the exception of the oldest sibling, Kevin, the rest of the Jonas Brothers have caused a stir because of highly publicized dates and affairs.

Joe Jonas? highly sensationalized break up with country singer, Taylor Swift, caused a major buzz in Hollywood. To compound matters, Swift has been very vocal about her feelings towards the split. Swift said that the break up was sudden and only happened through a phone call. Joe, according to her, was the one who made the ?break up? call that only lasted for 27 seconds.

When I look at that person, Im not even going to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 27 seconds when I was 18, said Taylor in a talk show interview.

In response, Joe refuted the claims of his ex-girlfriend and said that the phone call only lasted as it did because Taylor wasn?t open to hear his side. He also denied other allegations that he cheated on Swift with 10,000 BC actress, Camilla Belle. Although Camilla and he are already dating, he insisted that he never cheated on any girlfriend.

Nick Jonas has also been the target of tabloids because of his relationship with Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus. The two apparently broke up because of Nick?s new fling, Selena Gomez, another Disney star. Selena starred in the Jonas Brothers? music video, Burnin? Up as the singer?s love interest. The incident caused the two teen actresses to cause cat fight rumors and the Youtube war between Miley and Selena also emerged because of Nick.

Despite these, the Jonas Brothers is taking the rumors in stride. They also have the support of Disney and their record label. However, Disney did some reprimanding to the siblings to avoid further damage on their squeaky clean image especially when there some jarring Jonas Brothers shirtless photos spread all over the internet. In some reports, it was said that Disney is alarmed with the issues that have been surfacing about their sweet, clean, and dandy young stars like Hannah Montana, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and just recently, the Jonas Brothers.

Nick Jonas might be releasing a solo album next year without any help from his siblings, but that doesn’t mean the Jonas Brothers are over.

In a MySpace blog post this week entitled “WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP,” the power-pop trio quelled the worst fears of its fans, which stemmed from a news report that its youngest member was branching out with a side project.

“We are so proud of our brother Nick,” wrote Joe and Kevin Jonas. “We know that we will be doing music together for the rest of our lives…’A three chord strand is not easily broken,’ and one thing’s for sure…this three chord strand is stronger now than it’s ever been.”

Nick Jonas also confirmed his solo project in the message, explaining that the idea for a solo album came about six months ago, during a two-week break
from the Jonas Brothers tour. “I decided to go to Nashville, TN to make a side project (Nick Jonas & The Administration) with 4 musicians–guys that I had met and worked with before,” explained the youngest Jonas brother.

“Anything we do outside of the group is a side project because you can’t break up brothers,” he added. “We are already planning another world tour AS THE JONAS BROTHERS next summer, and it is all thanks to our amazing fans.”

Fears that the Jonas Brothers might break up first surfaced when mother Denise Jonas broke the news about a Nick Jonas solo album to Parade.com. “”Nick is working on a solo act — it’s called Nick Jonas and The Administration,” she dished. “Shhh! He’s at the photo shoot for the album cover right now.”

“We are thrilled for you to hear these songs that were on his heart,” said Kevin and Joe Jonas. “They are amazing works of art from an amazing talent…our brother. We will see you later this year, next year, and hopefully for the rest of our lives.”

Through their Change for the Children Foundation, the Jonas Brothers recently donated $50,000 to Convoy of Hopes feeding initiatives.

”We would like to thank you for the incredible work your organization is doing on behalf of those less fortunate, reads an excerpt of a letter from Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, according to a press release from Convoy of Hope. We are proud to support your efforts with this grant and hope for your continued success helping others.

Convoy of Hope currently feeds 21,000 children each day and hopes to expand the number in the months ahead. For many children, the meal they receive from Convoy of Hope is their only meal of the day.

Miley Cyrus showed off a little leather and lace during her show Thursday evening at Target Center.

Miley Cyrus’ stretch toward maturity didn’t quite stretch far enough. Many of her concert antics were awkward and derivative of bigger, racier groups.

Say hello to the new I-want-to-grow-up-fast Miley. Little girls who have worshipped this Disney supernova be damned. (Sorry, but that word seems to fit her new vibe.) Miley, who turns 17 on Nov. 23, wants to rock you with long-hair shaking, noisy guitars and short shorts.

Problem is, Miley can’t rock a pair of short shorts or a hair-metal song. Whether she sang a ballad or partied in overdrive, her voice was more about volume than emotion. She couldn’t command the stage with either grace or attitude. And she couldn’t inject personality into any part of her presentation — not even her patter.

“I’m happy to be here,” the once-spunky girl-next-door said with no conviction whatsoever. “You guys are the best.”

Although this show was more elaborate and physical than Miley’s “Best of Both Worlds” tour in 2007, it felt like Arena 101 delivered by a too-much-too-soon TV star who needs to go back to the School of Rock. The effects tried to be cool but came across as lame: Miley and four women dancing like a PG version of the Pussycat Dolls with carpenter sawhorses as props to “Girls Night Out” (an evening of construction?) or Miley perched atop a red Harley-Davidson circling slowly over the crowd braying Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock and Roll” (rock ‘n’ roll in slow motion? hello?).

In the shameless tween tradition of market, market, market, Miley plugged her movie “The Last Song” (even though it’s not due till 2010) by showing a trailer and then launching into the film’s power ballad, “When I Look at You,” with the star starting at a white grand piano and eventually running around ungainly like a Steven Tyler wanna-be.

The dating rumors that hit Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner are heating up one more time when the country music singer sang him praise during an appearance in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” aired Thursday, October 29. Though so, she managed not to give direct confirmation whether or not they are a couple.

Host Ellen DeGeneres first of all playfully asked Swift “Who were your scenes with?” when referring to Swift’s upcoming film “Valentine’s Day”. “Taylor Lautner,” answered the songstress. “The guy from ‘Twilight’?” DeGeneres teased. “Oh yeah, he’s cute!” And Swift was quick to respond, “Yeah, he is.”

After establishing that Swift shares scenes with Lautner in the upcoming romantic comedy, DeGeneres showed a picture of them kissing. “What’s happening there. Is that part of the movie?” she asked. Swift then answered, “Yeah, yeah, it was.” And when DeGeneres asked her if Lautner is a good kisser, Swift coyly replied, “What?” before then laughing.

After that presented with a photo of her and Lautner at a recent hockey game in Los Angeles, Swift told DeGeneres, “I really like hockey a lot and it turns out so does he.” The statement was countered by DeGeneres who said, “Wow, so you just ran into each other?”

Though their alleged romance has become the subject of media publication, neither Swift nor Lautner seems bother to make a confirmation if they are dating or not. Making no single statement regarding the dating speculation, they are often spotted putting a united front together at several occasions.

Taylor Swift is taking over television like she does radio. In the month of October, Taylor appeared on ‘Oprah,’ and the video for her latest song, “Fifteen” debuted on CMT, but the month isn’t over.

Swift will appear on one of the most popular television shows, ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ this Tuesday. Swift will sing on the results show. Normal performances from past musical guests have generally performed two songs.Usually anew release and then later in the show, a past hit. The results show will air on ABC Tuesday, 9/8 Central.

Manyfans are wondering if this will be the opportunity Swift uses to somewhat get revenge on Kanye West, after his outburst during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for winning Best Female Videoon the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.Speculations are that skits aimed at Kanye just may take place on the show.

This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week. The state of Florida wants to draw attention to statistics that name vehicle crashes as the main cause of teen fatalities nationwide.

AmyPanama City Police respond to thousands of crashes per year. This year police say that theyre expecting to respond to more crashes than the past 5 years combinedfor the entire Bay County area. Teens in Panama City say that learning how to drive is a tough part of growing up: The biggest challenge is the distractions, says Alex Masso of Bay High. Miles Godwin thinks its paying attention to the road.

Driving is something most teens look forward to, but according to statistics many teens take dont the responsibility that comes with driving seriously.

Sgt Jeff Becker of the Panama City Police Department says that approximately 400 out of every 10,000 drivers is a teen between the age of 15 and 19 will be involved in a traffic crash.

Even students say that teens sometimes think theyre invincible. Bay High Schools student body president, Miles Godwin, recounts a scary experience from his sophomore year: when another person was driving he was texting and he actually t-boned us right here behind Bay High School and he was going 45 miles per hour. It was very scary. One of my friends got injured, but we were all alright.

But not all teens involved in crashes end up alright. According to statistics 4,054 teens died in car crashes last year. The number one reason used to be alcohol. Now its distractionslike friends in the car or texting.

Dee Cassidy owns Bay County Traffic School. Shes gotten some interesting confessions from teens: Ive had teenagers say I can eat my breakfast burrito and put on my eye makeup and talk to my friend on the phone and drive with my knee all at the same time and Im likewaaah! Thats not good!

Alex Masso admits that distractions come from Also having friends in the car and having music loud. Its difficult to pay attention to the road and also deal with everything going on in the car.

Cassidy says that teens need to remember that Driving today is not a right. You dont have a right to drive. It is a privilege and they will take that away from you so quickly when things go wrong. And things can go wrong in a split second.

Kansas authorities late Wednesday deactivated an Amber Alert for Tara Renee Simhiser, who was reportedly abducted from her home in Marion County.

They continued looking for Simhiser, but ended the alert that was issued about 5:30 p.m.

Simhiser, 17, is 5 feet tall and 120 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. She is white and was wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt.

The suspect is Rojelio Hernandez, 21, a Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 155 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a light brown shirt, blue jeans and a blue cap.

They may be in a blue late 90s model Honda Accord. Anyone with information should call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME.
